How to use the Facilities

ICAR- Central institute of fisheries technology is an ISO/IEC 17025 NABL accredited research institute with purposes

  1. To adopt systematic procedure for receipt, identification of test samples receiving at CIFT for testing.
  2. To adopt systematic procedure for storage/validity of samples in different steps and disposal of remnants after testing.

Quality Manager is responsible for coordinating systematic receipt and identification of test sample. The Technical officer attached to Quality Manager Office assists in receiving the test sample. The personnel of sample receiving cell is responsible for proper and safe storage of sample in sample receiving cell and the sample will be transferred to the concerned laboratory In-charge for analysis/testing. The laboratory In-charge is responsible for handling, safe storage and analysis of test item.   The analysis will be carried out based on the availability of qualified technical personal and working status of the particular equipment/facility. Though, analysis will be carried out on the basis of first come first served.  


How to use the Facility

University/ Colleges

You can come in-person or send your samples along with a letter from the Head / Guide on your College/Institute original letterhead duly signed and sealed for analysis/testing stating that the analysis is for research purpose. The letter should be addressed to The Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin.
 

National Lab
 

You can come in-person or send your samples along with a letter from your Institute original letterhead duly signed and sealed for analysis/testing stating that the analysis is for research purpose. The letter should be addressed to The Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin.
 

Note:

In your letter mention that " You agree to acknowledge SAIF at ICAR-CIFT, Cochin, in your publications and thesis if the ICAR-CIFT Instrument results are incorporated/used in them." 

Industry

You can come in-person or send your samples along with a letter for analysis.  Request for analysis  should be on your company original letterhead duly signed and sealed and should also consists the followingundertaking:

"In any event, the content of report/bill is meant for our information only and we will not use the  content of this bill/report for advertisement, evidence or litigation.".

If your letter does not contain the above undertaking then your letter and samples for analysis will not be accepted. The letter should be addressed to The Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin.

Note :  
 

  • The protocols of ISO/IEC 17025 NABL accreditation will be followed for the sample collection, storage, transfer, analysis and report generation.
  • Analytical charges are payable at prevailing rates.GST is applicable to all the users and is calculated as per current rate 18%.
  • Samples along with letter and payment should reach to ICAR-CIFT for analysis. If Samples are received without covering letter and DD, the samples will not be considered for analysis. 
  • If you are sending samples for multiple Analysis. Please send separatesamples for each analysis, as applicable.
  • Results can be collected either directly from the institute, otherwise reports will dispatch to the address on letter head, if requested. 
  • Any clarity on test sample can be sought from src.cift@gmail.com

Payment 

  • The payment should be made either in advance by a only Demand Draft(DD) in favour of : 

    " The Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin"    OR the payment can be made directly at ICAR-CIFT office.
     
  • The DD along with sample and covering letter should be sent to : 

        " The Director, ICAR-CIFT, Willingdon Island, Cochin, Kerala-682029 "
