The Central Institute of Fisheries Technology named at the time of inception, Central Institute of Fisheries Research Station, was established on 29-04-1957 under the Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Food and Agriculture. The Institute was given its present name in 1962. The administrative Control of the Institute was brought under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) from 1st October, 1967.
The Institute has its Headquarter at Cochin and Research Centres at Veraval (Gujarat), Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), and Mumbai (Maharashtra).
The section deals with Recruitment, Promotion, Declaration of Probation, Confirmation, Career Advancement of Scientists and Technical personnel, disciplinary/vigilance matters, court cases, other service and policy matters. Personal Files of entire staff in the headquarter and Research Centres are also maintained by the section.
