About the Library
The ICAR-CIFT Library and e-Resource Centre is the knowledge hub of the Institute, dedicated to supporting research, education, and innovation in fisheries and fish technology. The library provides comprehensive information services to scientists, researchers, students, technical staff, and other stakeholders by acquiring, organizing, preserving, and disseminating scientific and technical information.
With a strong focus on digital transformation and user-centric services, the library continuously adopts advanced technologies and innovative information services to facilitate research, improve access to scholarly resources, and preserve the Institute's intellectual heritage through systematic digitization.
Library Collections
The library maintains a comprehensive collection of physical and electronic resources to support research and academic activities in fisheries and allied sciences.
Physical Collection
The physical collection comprises more than 13,000 books and 6,000 bound volumes of scientific journals, along with:
- Reference books
- Technical reports
- Theses and dissertations
- Government publications
Electronic Resources
The library subscribes to a range of specialized electronic databases and standards, including:
- Questel Patent Database
- Indian Standards, BIS Standards, ISO Standards, ASTM Standards
Digital Resources & Remote Access
Through One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) and MyLOFT, users gain off-campus access to peer-reviewed international journals and customized workspaces.
Library Automation & OPAC
Operations are fully automated using Koha ILS. The Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) allows users to search items, manage renewals, and check status online.
Institutional Digital Repository & Support
A DSpace repository archives over 7,100 records including research papers and theses. The library also provides plagiarism checking via iThenticate, literature searches, and reprographic services.
