Mumbai Research Centre of ICAR-CIFT started functioning at Sassoon Dock, Mumbai in 1958 to cater to the requirements of local fishery. Later in 1995, this centre was shifted to a better location in Vashi, Navi Mumbai under the Directorship of Dr. K. Gopakumar. This centre is decisive to undertake post harvest research as well as to promote export of seafoods in western region by imparting proper guidance, advocating suitable post harvest handling and processing practices and implementation of recent technological developments.
