9th International Day of Yoga Celebrations at ICAR-CIFT

9th International Day of Yoga was celebrated at ICAR-CIFT headquarters in Kochi and all research centres.  At Kochi Director, Dr. George Ninan, formally inaugurated the function.  Sri. Acharya S. Ayyappan (DNYS) Sree Yogadarshan - Yoga Centre, Thripunithura, Kochi, was the  Chief Guest. He delivered a talk on Yoga for health and wellness followed by a practical session based on the Common Yoga Protocol by AYUSH. Sri Ayyappan demonstrated basic asanas and breathing techniques which can be practised daily for improving health and mental wellness.  Dr. Prajith K K, Senior Scientist & Nodal officer, IDY, proposed vote of thanks.

At Veraval Research Centre, Dr. Ashish Kumar Jha, Senior Scientist & Scientist-in-Charge, inaugurated the programme. The yoga theory and practical sessions were led by Shri. Abhay Thakar, Yoga instructor, Sanskrit University, Veraval. Dr. Sarika K, Scientist delivered welcome address and Dr. S. Chinnadurai, Scientist & Nodal Officer, proposed the vote of thanks.

At the Mumbai Research Centre, Dr. Asha K. K., Principal Scientist and Scientist-in-Charge inaugurated the function. Smt. Deepti Gharat, an expert in Hatha Yoga from Isha School of Hatha Yoga, Coimbatore was the Chief Guest and instructor. Sri. Shravan Kumar Sharma, Scientist welcomed the gathering and Sri. Avinash N. Agawane, AAO, proposed vote of thanks.

At the Vishakhapatnam research centre the programme was inaugurated by  Dr U Sreedhar, Principal Scientst & Scientist-in-Charge. Shri M.S.V. Prabhakar Rao, L.D.C, Visakhaptanm Centre and a Post Graduate Diploma holder in Yoga from Andhra University explained the importance of yoga in our daily life and demonstrated the basic asanas in the practical session. Shri K. Das, AAO & Nodal officer, IDY, has welcomed all the staff members to the programme and Smt. Tessy Francis, Technical Officer proposed vote of thanks.
