Future Refrigeration India (INDEE+) is a collaborative project including ICAR-CIFT, Cochin, NTNU-Norway, SINTEF, IIT-Chennai, IISc-Bangalore & BITS-Pilani. The project focuses on promoting natural refrigerants such as ammonia, carbon dioxide and hydrocarbons. As part of the project, CIFT has identified two seafood processing industries as demonstration sites (M/s NAS Fisheries & Bellfoods) to install the eco-friendly CO2-NH3 cascade refrigeration system for the tunnel freezer. on 22.05.2024, Norway Ambassador May-Elin Stener visited demo-site M/s Bellfoods Pvt. Ltd and appreciated CIFT and the project team for installing a 150 kW CO2-NH3 cascade refrigeration system. Norway's Ambassador also visited ICAR-CIFT and interacted with the Director and Scientists, visited various facilities and research laboratories, and appreciated the efforts of CIFT in the sustainable development of the seafood sector.
