The ITEC Training Programme on “ISO 22000/HACCP FOR FISH PROCESSING ESTABLISHMENTS” funded by ITEC Started on 6th November 2023 at ICAR CIFT Kochi. 21 trainees from 11 different countries viz., Algeria, Bhutan, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Maldives, Oman, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Nepal attended the training programme. Inaugural Meeting of the Training Programme was held on 7th November 2023, and the meeting was presided by Dr. George Ninan, Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin. Prof. (Dr.) B. Madhusoodhana Kurup, Former Vice Chancellor, KUFOS inaugurated the ITEC Training programme by lighting the lamp. Classes were held on the topics; Introduction to the HACCP concepts, Pre-requisite Programme (GMP), Pre-requisite Programme (SSOP), Physical hazards in fish and fishery products, Chemical hazards in fish and fishery products, Biological Hazards in fish and fishery products, Preliminary steps in HACCP plan development etc. Exposure visits were made to other fisheries institutes in Cochin and sites of cultural heritage during the programme. The programme ended 17TH November 2023 with formal valedictory meeting and distribution of certificate to the participants.
