ICAR-CIFT Celebrates International Women’s Day

The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Cochin, celebrated International Women’s Day. Renowned Indian classical dancer and cine actress Smt. Urmila Unni was the chief guest and, in her address, emphasized the importance of equality. The celebration was presided over by Dr. George Ninan, Director of ICAR-CIFT, who delivered the presidential address.

A special video presentation showcased ICAR-CIFT’s women empowerment initiatives, highlighting its efforts to support women through various programs and featured a music video named “Kanaakkattu” depicting the story of an empowered women through fishery entrepreneurship. The Women’s Cell of ICAR-CIFT honored the senior-most women family members in the institute. The event also featured a prize distribution ceremony for competitions held in connection with Women’s Day, which included slogan writing, poetry writing, and digital poster preparation. Dr. Ashaletha S., Principal Scientist and Liaison Officer of the Women’s Cell at ICAR-CIFT, and Dr. Anupama T. K., Senior Scientist at ICAR-CIFT, also spoke at the program.
