Shri Jummabhai being felicitated
As part of World Fisheries Day celebration at Veraval Research Centre of ICAR-CIFT a one day workshop on “Responsible Fishing and Quality Improvement” was conducted on 21st November, 2016. During the program, Shri Musungara Hasambhai Jummabhai, Winner, ICAR-Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Krishi Puruskar - 2015 was honored. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Haroon Sulaiman Bhai Patel, Muslim Sagar Khedu, Machiyara Trust, Jaleshwar, Veraval, Gujarat. Dr. G.K. Sivaraman, SIC of the Centre presided over the function and congratulated Shri Jummabhai for his achievement and commented on his association with ICAR-CIFT for implementing various ICAR-CIFT technologies like Fish traps, Solar fish dryer, etc. He talked about the need for fisheries resource conservation and value addition of fisheries products. Shri Mohammed Koya, SIC, Veraval Regional Station of ICAR-CMFRI offered felicitations. Dr. A.K. Jha, Scientist welcomed the gathering while Dr. K.K. Prajith, Scientist proposed vote of thanks. During the technical session, Dr. G.K. Sivaraman made a presentation on “Major economically important exploited species and need for conservation”. Dr. A.K. Jha talked about “Hygienic handling of fishes for quality improvement”. “Energy efficient responsible fishing techniques for artisanal fisherman” was the topic covered by Dr. K.K. Prajith. A total of 22 fishermen from Jaleshwar, ICAR-CIFT adopted village under Mera Gaon Mera Gauravprogram participated in the program.
