Vigilance Awareness Week was celebrated at ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin during the period 31 October to 5 November, 2016. The observance of the week commenced with a pledge administrated by the Director and staff on 31 October, 2016. The main focus of observing Vigilance Awareness Week was on “Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating corruption”.

 

 

As part of ‘Vigilance Awareness Week Celebrations’ at ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin on 5th November, 2016 Dr. Alexander Jacob, IPS, Former Director General of Police, Kerala and Nodal Officer, National Police University delivered a talk on “Vigilance and anti-corruption”. In his elaborate talk he traced back the history of anti corruption movement in the world, and in particular in India, right from the ancient civilizations of the world till the present day. Quoting befitting examples from Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharatha, Bible and Quran Dr. Alexander Jacob enlightened the audience about the role of general public and civil servants in promoting integrity and eradicating corruption. The meeting was presided over by Dr. C.N. Ravishankar, Director of the Institute. Dr. Saly N. Thomas, Principal Scientist and Vigilance Offer welcomed the gathering while Shri P.J. Davis, Senior Administrative Officer proposed the vote of thanks.
