Under the Tribal Sub Plan programmes a Training cum demonstration programme on “Employment of eco-friendly FRP Coracles and Preparation of Value added fish products”was organized at PMRC (Project Monitoring Resource Centre) of ITDA (Integrated Tribal Development Authority) at Ramapachodavaram, East Godavari District Andhra Pradesh during 22-24 December, 2014. The programme for the benefit of 61 participants was inaugurated by Shri Gandham Chandrudu, IAS, PO (Project Officer), ITDA. The inaugural meeting was presided over by Dr. M.M.Prasad, Principal Scientist and Scientist in Charge of ICAR-CIFT Visakhapatnam Research Centre. Dr M.S. Kumar, CTO, Visakhapatnam Research centre of ICAR-CIFT offered felicitations. Dr. Rammohana Rao, ADF (In Charge, Rajahmundry) proposed vote of thanks. The inaugural programme was followed by visit to the area where technologies developed at CIFT were exhibited. The value added products and the technologies developed at ICAR-CIFT on waste utilization drew maximum attention by the Chief Guest. Later the Chief Guest distributed inputs like foldable fish traps, gill nets, insulated fish bags based on the technologies developed by ICAR-CIFT,ice boxes and electrical heat sealersto the tribal fishers of Surampalem Reservoir and Bhoopathipalem Reservoir. Repeated demonstrations were given till all the beneficiarieswere acquainted in operating all the material.

The FRP coracle was launched in Bhoopathipalem Reservoir with select fishers from both the areas and demonstration was given on the operation of the same. A separate lecture was given on the operation and precautions to be taken during the operation of FRP Coracles.
At the end of the programme feedback session was held in which all the participants were given opportunity to convey the message on individual basis.
