Successful commissioning of Solar hybrid dryer at Anand Traders, Neeleshwaram, Ernakulam

ICAR-CIFT has developed different models and capacities of solar dryers for hygienic drying of fish. CIFT-Hybrid model solar dryers are having LPG, biomass or electricity as alternate back up heating source for continuous hygienic drying of fish even under unfavourable weather conditions. The capacity of these hybrid solar dryers varies from 6 to 110 m2 of tray spreading area for drying of various quantities of fish varying from 10 kg to 500 kg. CIFT developed eco-friendly and energy efficient solar hybrid dryers are gaining momentum among fishermen community and dry fish business start-ups.

A new venture in dry fish business was started by Mr. Binoj who is an incubatee of CIFT-ABI for solar fish drying technology. One unit of CIFT solar-electrical hybrid dryer of capacity 50-60 kg was commissioned at Anand Traders. Kattungal building, Neeleshwaram, Ernakulam district on 1-9-2021.  The dried products will be marketed under the brand name of ‘Anand Traders’. The products will be hygienically dried in CIFT solar hybrid dryer, commissioned in presence of Shri. Roji M John (MLA), Shri. Sebi Kidangen (Panchayat President), other Panchayat members and officials of ICAR-CIFT.
