A hands-on training on Pre-processing and drying of fish in solar hybrid dryer was conducted at KVK, Palakkad

A hands-on training on ‘Pre-processing and drying of fish in solar hybrid dryer’ was conducted at KVK, Palakkad on 29^th February 2024 by Engineering Section, ICAR-CIFT. This training programme was sponsored by ICAR for SC candidates under Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan. The training was conducted with the objective to develop skills in pre-processing and drying of fish to the small-scale farmers or entrepreneurs in CIFT dryer. The training was inaugurated by the Dr. Nikita Gopal, HOD, EIS Division and Overall Coordinator, Govt. Flagship programmes. Dr. Suresh A, serving as the Principal Scientist in the EIS Division and acting as the Nodal Officer for the SCSP, provided an in-depth explanation of the SCSP program. Twenty-five SC candidates were participated in this training. The training covered various aspects related to fish handling, pre-processing, drying, packaging of dried fish. Scientists Dr. Neethu K C from the Engineering Section and Dr. Sreelakshmi K R from the Fish Processing Division were the facilitators for the training sessions. The pre-processing of fish and shrimp and working of solar hybrid dryer was explained to the participants with practical sessions. The participants were awarded with certificates at the end of the programme. Dr. Sumiya, Programme coordinator, KVK, Palakkad, proposed the vote of thanks.
