The training course on "Emerging Trends in Food Processing: Innovation, Technology, and Sustainability" was inaugurated on February 19, 2025, at the Engineering Section, ICAR-CIFT. This six-day program, now in its fourth edition, commenced on February 19, 2025, and will conclude on February 25, 2025, sponsored by ICAR under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP), the training aims to equip Scheduled Caste candidates with essential skills for careers in food research and industry, enhancing their knowledge of the latest technologies and industry trends.
The inauguration ceremony began with a welcome address by Dr. Murali S., Scientist in Charge, Engineering Section. The program was officially inaugurated by Dr. Manoj P. Samuel, Executive Director, KSCSTE–Centre for Water Resources Development and Management, Kozhikode, who emphasized the importance of sustainable resource utilization in food processing. Dr. M. P. Remesan, Director I/c, presided over the function, while Dr. Suresh A. provided insights into the institute's SCSP schemes. A training compendium was also released during the session. The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Neethu K. C., Course Director and Scientist, Engineering Section.
A total of 29 students from seven different colleges across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh have enrolled in this training program.
