Training program on "AMR Pathogens and Their Mitigation from a One-Health Point of View" inaugurated

 

The Microbiology, Fermentation, and Biotechnology Division of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin organized a six-day hands-on training program titled “AMR Pathogens and Their Mitigation from a One-Health Point of View” and inaugurated on 2nd December 2024. This training program is being conducted from 2nd to 7th December 2024, for teaching faculties, scientist and biological sciences students from ICAR institutes, different State universities and State Agriculture Universities. The training is designed to strengthen the capacity of young researchers by equipping them with advanced knowledge and skills in AMR mitigation strategies, ultimately fostering their involvement in this critical field.

Dr. George Ninan, Director, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin emphasized the significance of AMR and the pivotal role of One-Health approaches in addressing this global challenge among the participants. This training was planned as part of World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW) 2024 to improve awareness and understanding of AMR through effective communication, education and training. A total of 25 participants (20 females and 5 males) including 19 scheduled caste, 1 scheduled tribe and 1 from NEH region participated and will be benefitted from the programme.
