The training course on ‘Advances in food process engineering and preservation’ was conducted for 5 days from 31st October to 4th November 2022 at Engineering Division, ICAR-CIFT. This training programme was sponsored by ICAR for SC candidates under Scheduled caste sub-plan. The training was conducted with the objective to create skilled graduates seeking their careers in both food research and industry updating their knowledge about the latest technologies and industry trends. The training was inaugurated by the Director CIFT on 31st October. B.Tech students from five different colleges, from Kerala, Karnataka and Haryana were participated in this training programme. SC category students from MET’s School of engineering, Thrissur, College of horticultural engineering and food technology, Haveri, Karnataka, Verghese Kurian institute of dairy and food technology, Thrissur, Saintgits college of engineering, Kottayam and Maharshi Dayand University, Rohtak, Haryana were participated. Key speakers from Kerala agricultural university, Kerala veterinary and animal sciences university and Indian institute of spices research were handled the sessions online on advances in post-harvest technologies of cereals pulses and oil seeds, Advances in dairy process engineering and spice processing and value addition, respectively. CIFT’s scientists and experts from engineering, fish processing, quality assurance and management division and Biochemistry and nutrition division was also delivered the lectures. The training course also had labs, workshop and plant visits to attain practical knowledge to the participants. The students were awarded participation certificate by the Director, CIFT in the presence other officials of CIFT.
