Nasreen Nazar, Senior Research Fellow in the Quality Assurance and Management Division, ICAR-CIFT, working under the guidance of Dr. Niladri Sekhar Chatterjee, Senior Scientist, has been awarded the Best Paper Presentation Award (Oral) at the International Toxicology Convention on Emerging Approaches in Risk Analysis and Translational Aspects of Health and Environment (EARTH 2024). The conference was held from November 27 – 30th, 2024, at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Toxicology Research (CSIR-IITR) in Lucknow, India. The award includes a trophy, a certificate, a cash prize of Rs. 5000, and a one-year student membership in the Association of Toxicologists and Risk Assessors (ASTRA).
The presentation, titled “Untargeted Metabolomics Uncovers Potential Health Risks of Chronic Exposure to Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH) at Environmentally Relevant Concentrations,” focused on evaluating altered metabolites and metabolic pathways associated with dietary intake of PAHs through seafood. The research utilized state-of-the-art analytical techniques, including UHPLC-HRMS and an untargeted metabolomics approach, to assess the potential human health risks posed by long-term exposure to PAHs at concentrations relevant to environmental conditions. This achievement underscores the significant contributions of our researchers to advancing toxicological science and public health.
