Mumbai Research Centre of ICAR-CIFT celebrated World Fisheries Day on 21 November, 2016 by arranging an open day. About 50 students from I.E.S. Navi Mumbai High School, Vashi visited the Centre. Posters on harvest and post harvest practices on fisheries were exhibited. Various value added products and byproducts from fish and shellfishes were displayed and their importance in human diet was explained by Scientists and technical staff of the Centre. Students were given an opportunity to visit the Biochemistry and Microbiology laboratories and gave an exposure to different glasswares, chemicals instruments, bacterial cultures etc. Finally an interactive session was arranged at the conference hall to sensitize them about the importance of fisheries for national development and also highlighted fisheries education in India and abroad.
