Dr. TrilochanMohapatra, Secretary DARE and DG, ICAR, New Delhi visited Mumbai Research Centre of ICAR-CIFT at Vashi, Navi Mumbai on 12th June, 2017 along with Dr. Gopal Krishna, Director and Vice- Chancellor of Deemed University, CIFE, and Dr. Swadesh Prakash, Principal scientist, Extension division, CIFE, Mumbai.
Welcoming the Hon’ble Secretary DARE and DG, ICAR andDirector, ICAR-CIFE; the Scientist In-Charge of MRC-CIFT Dr.L. Narasimha Murthy briefly explained about the activities of the centre. He highlighted the significant achievement in the field of post-harvest technology and also technology transferred to fisher folk under Tribal Sub Plan, research collaboration with fish processing industries and other ICAR institutes in Mumbai. Later, Dr. TrilochanMohapatra, Secretary DARE and DG, ICAR interacted with the scientists and other staff members regarding various activities of the centre. All the scientists briefed their research work. DG, ICAR highly appreciated the Mumbai Research centre activities and congratulated all thestaff members for their contributions to the Institute. He strongly urged the scientists to work on the research priorities towards application of biosensors in fish quality assessment during transportation, value addition of fish and fishery by-products, characterization of bioactive peptide for pharmaceutical applications etc. Further, he visited the laboratories, office premises and suggested to improve the quality of research output.
