In connection with the Grant-in-Aid Contract Research Project between Society for Assistance to Fisherwomen (SAF), Govt. of Kerala and ICAR-CIFT, for Establishment of Refrigeration Enabled Fish Vending Kiosk across Kerala, a one-day training programme was organized on 29th September 2020 at ICAR-CIFT, Kochi. As part of the project objectives, to introduce hygienic and cost-effective fish vending systems in Kerala, and bring quality fish to consumers and better returns to fish vendors, ICAR-CIFT will be providing 20 units of Fish Vending Kiosks to selected beneficiaries. Phase 1 of the project was completed during June 2020, and 5 activity groups has successfully set up retail kiosks at Vadookkara, Kumbalangi, Chellanam and Kumarakam.
The present training programme was scheduled as part of the Phase 2 activities, and members from following fisherwomen activity groups attended, along with respective mission coordinators from SAF.

5 units of kiosks has been supplied to these groups and they shall be starting their business operations soon. The training programme was coordinated jointly by Engineering Division and ZTM-ABI Centre, ICAR-CIFT. Dr. Manoj P. Samuel, Dr. George Ninan, Dr. A.A. Zynudheen, Dr. C.O. Mohan, Dr. Murali S., Smt. Alfiya P.V., Dr. Parvathy U., Dr. Remya S. and Shri. Siddique V.K. handled the technical and practical sessions of the programme.
