ICAR-CIFT to Celebrate 68th Foundation Day with Open House

The ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), a premier research institute in India’s fishery sector, celebrates its 68th Foundation Day on April 29, 2025. Over the past 67 years, ICAR-CIFT has made commendable scientific contributions in the fields of fish harvesting, processing, packaging, product development, quality assurance, fishery by-products, and fishery waste utilization. Its laboratories are NABL-accredited laboratory and it is a national referral and reference laboratory for fish and fish products.

As part of the celebrations, the Institute will organize an Open House aimed at bringing together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds   including fishers, students, entrepreneurs, industry and extension personnel, scholars, and the general public.

The Open House, scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM will conclude at 1:00 PM at the ICAR-CIFT in Kochi, will offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore the Institute’s key Divisions and facilities. Visitors will have the chance to interact directly with scientists engaged in pioneering research and to get an up-close look at the innovative technologies developed. Admission to the Open House is free.

In addition to the Open House, the Foundation Day celebrations will also feature a drawing competition and an essay competition for school and college students.
