ICAR-CIFT observes Jai Kisan - Jai Vigyan week

ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin observed the “Jai Kisan - Jai Vigyan” week in a befitting manner during 23-29 December, 2015 to commemorate the birth anniversary of   Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Late Shri Chaudhary Charansingh, former Prime Ministers of India, keeping in view of their immense contribution for promoting use of science for the welfare of farmers. The week-long celebration began with the visit of 50 students from Dr. G.C. Negi College of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, Palampur, Himachal Pradesh to ICAR-CIFT, Cochin on 23 December, 2015. The students were taken around and showed the facilities of the Institute and scientists interacted with them on the ongoing research activities. On 29 December, 2015 another group of post graduate students of Dept. of Zoology, Lucknow University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh along with their faculty members and technical staff  visited the Institute. Dr. Nikita Gopal, HoD (i/c), EIS Division gave a brief of the various Divisions of the Institute and talk on ‘Food Safety and Quality Management’ was delivered by Dr. T.V. Sankar, HOD (i/c), QAM Division. A special counter was set up and ICAR-CIFT publications were distributed to the visiting students and other visitors. The Institute also participated in two exhibitions during the period.
