ICAR-CIFT organised off-campus collaborative online training programme on ‘Supply Chain Management in Fisheries’ during 18-21 April, 2022. The training was sponsored by National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad. The training was attended by 69 participants covering 18 states of India that includes researchers, teaching professionals, students, Ph.D scholars, entrepreneurs, extension professionals and field level development officers from various state departments. The training comprised of various technical sessions viz., overview of fisheries supply chain management, supply chain performance measures, risk management in fish supply chain, E-marketing and integrated fish market and pricing system, post-harvest loss assessment, cost reduction and pricing mechanism in fish supply chain, imperfections in fish supply chain, supply chain evaluation, role of women in fish supply chain, fish consumption behaviour and Extension implications on supply chain management of fisheries.

The training was inaugurated by Dr. T.V.Sankar, Director (i/c), ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin. Dr. A.K.Mohanty, Head of the Division, Extension, Information and Statistics Division, ICAR-CIFT felicitated the function. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Pe. Jeyya Jeyanthi, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIFT, Cochin. Dr. B. Venkata Rao, Research Associate was the Co-ordinator from MANAGE, Hyderabad. The training highlighted the methods, opportunities and issue along the fish supply chain. It stressed for a balanced, collective, inclusive and sustainable supply chain management in fisheries for increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of fish supply chain in the long-run.
