Live Webcasting of Hon’ble PM's address to farmers, scientists and other stakeholders

 

On 17.03.2018, ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin arranged live webcasting of Hon' ble Prime Minister’s address to farmers, agricultural scientists and other stakeholders of  Krishi Unnati Mela organised at IARI, Pusa, New Delhi from 16-18 March, 2018. About 100 stakeholders comprising of fishers from Thoppumpady, Mulavukad, Perumbalam and Chembu; fish processors, entrepreneurs from different parts of the state along with more than 300 CIFT personnel including 84 scientists attended the “Live Webcast programme of Hon’ble PM's address” organized in Dr. A. N Bose Auditorium of the institute on 17 March, 2018 (Saturday) at 11.45 a.m

 

On this occasion the Video film shows on “ICAR-CIFT- The Silent Benefactor”, “CIFTest Kit” and “Technological achievements of institute” were displayed. In addition, Stakeholders-Scientists Interface was also organised to discuss about the potential deliverables of CIFT technologies, which can be utilised for the development of the fisheries sector and livelihood security of the small scale fisher community. Later the stakeholders were taken around the different demonstration units of institute including fish processing pilot plants, net mending workshop, FT and Engineering Museum and ATIC to expose them to the CIFT technologies. A training programme for clam fishers from Perumabalam was also organised as part of the programme where they were trained on production of value added products from clam meat. 

 

At the outset, welcoming the gathering, Dr. Suseela Mathew, Head, B&N division and Director I/C spelt out the importance of blue revolution and said that appropriate technological intervention in harvesting and post-harvesting sector in fisheries will help in doubling farmers’ (fisher’s) income by 2022. Then the of Hon' ble PM’s address was streamed live through webcasting in which Hon’ble PM while highlighting the successful growth of Indian agriculture, emphatically stressed on the scope of blue economy and said that budget estimate of more than 10000 crore had been allotted during 2018-19 for strengthening the fisheries and animal husbandry sector.
