A new chapter has been written in India’s agricultural history, with launching an historic initiatives dedicated to the prosperity and welfare of farmers by Prime Minister on October 11, 2025
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched two major initiatives — the ‘PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana’ and the Self-Reliance in Pulses Mission — at the National Agricultural Science Complex, Pusa, New Delhi, on the birth anniversary of Loknayak Jaiprakash Narayan,with the objective of enhancing farmers’ income and strengthening the agricultural sector.To make the occasion impactful, parallel events organized at all ICAR Institutes involving 400-500 farmers. ICAR-CIFT Kochi staff joined in large numbers to witness the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Special Krishi Programme held at New Delhi . ICAR-CIFT proudly stands with the national mission to empower farmers, strengthen fisheries, and advance the Blue Economy. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Bhagirath Choudhary, Minister of State Agriculture and Farmers Welfare also spoke on the occasion.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for over 1,100 projects related to Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, and Food Processing sectors. Together, these projects are worth more than ₹42,000 crore, and are expected to usher in a new era of prosperity and well-being for millions of farmers across the country.
During the event, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi honoured farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), cooperative societies, and innovators for their outstanding contributions to the agricultural sector. He also highlight several key national achievements in agriculture and rural development.
Together, these initiatives will not only strengthen India’s food security in the coming years but also lead the nation toward self-sufficiency in pulses production, reinforcing the government’s commitment to empowering farmers and building a resilient agricultural economy.
As part of this occasion . ICAR-CIFT also arranged an farmers meeting at cheray Jyothirmaya Vidhyabhavan school,in association with Bluepearl fish farmer producer company. The programme started 10.30 am.The programme was inaugurated by Dr.Ashaletha S ,ICAR-CIFT and several Public representatives, councillors, and Farmer Producer Organisations were participated in the programme
