The training course on ‘Advances in food process engineering and preservation’ was conducted for the second time for 5 days from 16th to 20th January 2023 at Engineering Section, ICAR-CIFT. This training programme was sponsored by ICAR for SC candidates under Scheduled caste sub-plan. The training was conducted with the objective to create skilled graduates seeking their careers in both food research and industry updating their knowledge about the latest technologies and industry trends. The training was inaugurated by the Director CIFT on 16th October 2023. Twenty eight B.Tech students from seven different colleges, from Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Panjab were participated in this training programme. B.Tech Agriculture engineering students from College of Agriculture Engineering, Kumulur, B.Tech Food Technology students from College of fish nutrition and food technology, Chennai, B.Tech dairy Technology students from Verghese Kurian institute of dairy and food technology, Thrissur, B.Tech Environmental/Fisheries engineering students from College of Fisheries Engineering, Nagapattinam, B.Tech food technology students from NIFTEM-T, Thanjavur, KUFOS, Kochi and PAU, Ludhiana were participated. Key speakers from Kerala agricultural university, Kerala veterinary and animal sciences university, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, Indian institute of spices research, Central Tuber crops Research Institute, Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering were handled the sessions on advances in post-harvest technologies of cereals pulses and oil seeds, Advances in dairy process engineering, post-harvest machineries agricultural crops, Millets processing and machineries, spice processing and value addition, tuber crops processing and emerging technologies in food processing in online mode. CIFT’s scientists and experts from engineering, fish processing, quality assurance and management division and Biochemistry and nutrition division was also delivered the lectures. The training course also had lab visits, workshop and pilot plant visits and industrial visit to baby Marine International to gain practical knowledge. The students were awarded participation certificate by the Director I/c Dr. Suseela Mathew in the presence of Dr. Murali S, Scientist and In-charge, Engineering section, Dr. Neethu K. C., Course Director and Scientist, Engineering Section and Dr. Aniesrani Delfiya D. S. Scientist, Engineering and other officials of CIFT.
