Dr. C.N. Ravishankar, Director, ICAR-CIFT addresses the AGM of the Seafood Exporters Association of Veraval

Dr. C.N. Ravishankar, Director of ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Cochin attended the 20^th  Annual General Body meeting of the Seafood Exporters Association of Veraval as a special invitee on 18 July, 2017 at Hotel Krishna, Diu. During his address he has congratulated the Seafood Exporters of Veraval for their significant contribution to the export value of India in spite of several challenges like poor infrastructure, lack of trained manpower, etc. On this occasion he has also outlined the contributions of ICAR-CIFT in the area of fish processing technology and services of the Veraval Research Center of ICAR-CIFT to the processing industries of Gujarat. He has mentioned that the NABL/EIC accredited laboratory for the analysis of seafood samples is a long standing demand of the Seafood Exporters Association of Veraval and ICAR-CIFT is committed to establish it. In this regard the Institute has initiated the up-liftment and renovation of existing office-cum-laboratory building and also initiated the purchase process of instruments. Further, he has told that getting NABL accreditation is a long and tedious process. As it requires stringent regulations to meet, it takes time, but the Institute is doing its best to get it. Latter on as a head of the host organization for 11^th Indian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum he has invited the seafood exporters of Veraval to participate in the mega event which will be held from 21^st to 24^th November, 2017 at Cochin.
