CIFT Participates in Advantage Jharkhand

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology participated in “Advantage Jharkhand – Food Processing Investors Summit” held at KhelGaon, Ranchi, Jharkhand during 23-24 April, 2015. The team was led by Dr. M. M. Prasad, Principal Scientist, Visakhapatnam Research Centre of ICAR-CIFT  representing Director, ICAR-CIFT. Shri B.K. Panda, Asst. Chief  Tech. Officer and Shri D. Rout,Tech. Officer of Visakhapatnam RC of ICAR-CIFT were the team members.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Raghbir Das, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Jharkhand. After the inaugural function the exhibition stalls were also inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister.

Dr. M.M. Prasad delivered an invited lecture on “Post harvest fisheries development in Jharkhand: ICAR-CIFT as hand holder”with an emphasis on all contributions made by ICAR-CIFT till date in development of fishing technology and fish processing technology in the form of giving different eco-friendly fishing gears, inputs for hygienic handling, transportation, processing and packaging equipments/material on gratis followed by hands on training cum demonstration programmesfor sustainable development of reservoir fisheries in Jharkhand. The lecture centred on technologies available with ICAR-CIFT that are ready to transfer, different equipments employed in fish processing their cost, capacity and the representative figures and BPD Unit and its role in developing entrepreneurial skills among aspiring entrepreneurs of Jharkhand.Dr. Prasad also participated in the panel discussion giving clarification to all the queries related to fisheries.Different technologies developed at ICAR-CIFT and products based therein were exhibited. People from all walks of life, aquaculturists, students, officials of different departments of Government of Jharkhand, print and electronic media visited ICAR-CIFT stall. The products based on technologies developed at ICAR-CIFT drew wide attention from the visitors. Among all fisheries research Institutes of ICAR-CIFT was the only Research Institute to participate actively in ‘Advantage Jharkhand–Food Processing Investors Summit’.
