A 8-days Model Training Course on “Advanced Fish Drying and Chilling Technology” sponsored by Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India,was inaugurated at ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT), Kochi, on Monday (19.08.2019). The training program was meant for Extension Officersworking in Agriculture / Fisheries and Allied Departments of States / UTs,Scientists from SAUs / KVKs / ICAR Institutes who are working at field leveland involve in extension activities in State Government Departments.The partcicipants from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala attended the programme. The program was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Cheif Guest Dr.P.Sudheer Babu, Dean, College of Dairy Science and Technology, Thrissur. In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of refrigeration and chiiling techniques for fish and dairy industry and called for a collaborative research across the disciplines to reach out to the end users. Dr. C.N. Ravishankar, Director, ICAR-CIFT, Kochi, delivered a presidential address and pointed out the advancements in drying and chilling technologies and urged the trainees to come forward for widescale dissemination and implementation of the cutting-edge technologies in fish processing. Dr.Ashok Kumar, Course Director and HOD, Fish Processing Division, provided an overview about the training program. Dr. Manoj P Samuel, Course Director & HOD (Engg) welcomed the gathereing and Dr. J.Bindu, Principal Scientist,Fish Processing Division& Course Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. All the HOD, Senior officers and staff of ICAR-CIFT were present during the function.
